Trauma & Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) Treatment

Have you experienced the loss of a loved one or witnessed a particularly upsetting event? Has someone been emotionally or physically violent toward you at any point in your life?

If you’ve experienced these or other forms of trauma, are you still having a hard time getting out of bed or completing daily activities after a few months have passed?

If so, you may be suffering from Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD).

If you’ve experienced or witnessed a traumatic event in your life, you may respond by thinking about the experience repetitively and you might have a hard time completing routine tasks.  You might even think you’re still living in the traumatic experience and might experience overwhelming sadness, fears and/or panic in certain situations.

You are not alone. You can get through this with help.

You may feel unsure about therapy because you feel worried that others might think you should be able to just “snap out of it” and start feeling better on your own.

But working with a therapist to determine the root of your feelings and how best to respond when these thoughts occur can help lessen the repetitive thoughts and unpleasant feelings.

Sessions with me are interactive and goal-oriented with a focus on helping you develop new beliefs so you can work toward not feeling so afraid.

Often after the first appointment, you’ll walk away sensing some relief.

I work with people who are motivated and ready for change and who recognize the importance of a structured, direct therapeutic setting.  Over the course of a few sessions and with weekly homework assignments, you’ll learn specific skills and coping mechanisms so you can eventually rely on yourself to feel better.
